After a day of walking at the base of giants, and swinging from a gondola at their tree tops we went for a drive up the coast. Our landing spot was Cresant City. Funny how every restaurant in CA looked at us like we had a dozen kids. Cresent City was no exception, they needed to put together two tables AND she’s pregnant? Basically my time in CA taught me a little slice of how Michelle Duggar must feel.
After lunch we went to lounge on a cloudy beach and give the seagulls a run for their money. Chase all the birds, mission accomplished. As the beach always is a surprise wave always takes an unsuspecting kiddo off guard adn its messy, sandy, cold fest until rectified. A lucky little sister who hates to be cold was able to find her big brothers shorts and wear them.
Can we just say my husband sure gets some awesome action shots with our kids! This football session on the beach is a nugget of magic I hope my mind holds on to forever. When Im 90+ and cant remember much else I hope my mind takes me back to here to relive over and over.
This moment also tugs at my heart stings at little bit. At this point I know Im pregnant with a little girl. From babyhood with my first Ive asked moms who were done having kids what it felt like when they knew they were done. Everyone had a different answer and I wondered what it would feel like for me. I love babies and the newborn stage MOST so the thought of it being over for good always kinda haunted me. I had never felt like someone was missing but I knew I felt like I wanted one more. On this beach, at this moment, watching my boys bond playing football I noticed a piece of our family was missing. My boys had each other but giada was left with football not keeping her attention for as long as the boy’s.. We needed her buddy. A piece of our family was missign and I just kept thinking but shes on her way. Im not sure I will ever feel “done” having kids but I sure know that after meeting that missing piece I feel whole, I don’t feel like anyone is missing and its a comforting place to stand.
